Join us on Fridays at 4 p.m. in May and June for a “Water in My Community” education series where we learn about nature in and along Pine Creek, get involved with stewardship activities, and learn about the environmental impacts of pollution, erosion, and stormwater. Financial and other support for the Etna Environmental Education project has been provided by the Department of Environmental Protection’s 2020 Environmental Education Grants Program. And we are very grateful to our partners like the Borough of Etna, Tree Pittsburgh, NAEC, and our awesome community members who help make this work possible.
To participate, please bring a mask, appropriate outerwear, and your water bottle. Register by emailing pinecreekbackpack@gmail.com
We will also feature our Pine Creek Backpack, which can be rented for free by families and community members by emailing pinecreekbackpack@gmail.com. The backpack is full of fun items for all ages that help you discover nature along Pine Creek like a water monitoring kit, dip nets, binoculars, guides, activity ideas for kids, a plant press, and so much more. See what others have found, and record your own observations in the Pine Creek Journal!
