Youngsters in Etna will have an exciting, new opportunity this summer: the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western PA’s Summer Specialty Camp! The camp will run for four weeks beginning on June 21st and wrapping up on July 16th and will be held in the activities building at All Saints Church. Each week of camp will focus on a different area of development, such as STEM, art, fitness and recreation, and social-emotional play. STEAM programs will include robotics, coding, engineering, movie making, and more! Kiddos interested in art will have the opportunity to delve into culture, history, cooking, performing arts, and art-making. Of course, no summer camp would be complete without fun and games, and each morning of the fourth week of camp will be dedicated to sports and recreation.
Pastor JJ Lynn of Emmanuel Lutheran Church spearheaded the effort to bring this camp to Etna. When asked about why he wanted to collaborate with the Boys and Girls Clubs on this, he said, “I am a fan of any and all resources that seek to help folks reach their full awesomeness. Emmanuel was not able to host our weeklong STEAM day camp this year so the work of providing options for families to have safe, enriching, and fun activities for kids over the summer made it an easy decision to help with bringing the Boys and Girls Clubs' Specialty Day Camp to Etna. The hope is that this will be the beginning of a long relationship between Etna and The Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania, and could even lead to a Clubhouse for Etna as well as other resources for the people of Etna.”
The camp is open for kids in grades K-8. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania confirmed that the student MUST HAVE COMPLETED kindergarten in order to attend.
